TRON's stablecoin and network activity hit record levels, surpassing Ethereum. Despite a decline in DeFi activities, TRX saw broader market access with new exchanges and funds launching on the platfor

In the second quarter of 2026, TRON achieved significant milestones by recording an all-time high USDT supply worth $87.9 billion, surpassing Ethereum’s circulating USDT amount. This surge in stablecoin activity coincided with a $2.1 trillion transfer volume on the network, highlighting its growing importance as a major blockchain platform.

According to Messari's report, TRON's USDT dominance remained strong at 98.5%, with its market size increasing by 4.1% quarter-over-quarter. The average daily USDT transfer volume also returned to growth, rising by 4.3%. This increase in activity was accompanied by a rise in network usage; the platform processed an average of 11.8 million transactions per day, up 8.7%, and saw its active addresses climb to 3.6 million, marking a 11.7% growth.

While higher USDT supply and transfer volumes were positive signs for TRON's network activity, certain areas showed mixed results. The report noted that decentralized finance (DeFi) total value locked (TVL) declined by 1.9%, with average daily DEX volume falling by a significant 21.7%. This decline suggests ongoing challenges in maintaining momentum within the DeFi ecosystem on TRON.

Despite these fluctuations, higher network activity helped reverse a two-quarter decline in network fees, which rose by 15.9% to $699.4 million for the first time since August 2025 when governance changes reduced energy unit prices. However, broader inflationary trends persisted as TRX supply continued to increase by 87 million tokens during the quarter.

TRON's institutional access also expanded significantly in Q2 with key developments such as Securitize launching a tokenized fund on its network and Grayscale considering adding TRX to their asset list. Additionally, exchanges like Bitnomial and OKX Europe introduced new trading products for TRX, enhancing market liquidity and accessibility.

These changes underscore the evolving landscape of TRON's ecosystem, with both positive and negative trends impacting different segments. For traders, it is crucial to monitor ongoing developments in DeFi activities, network fees, and institutional access as these factors will shape future growth prospects on the platform.
